roundFÖHR 2026

Traditional walk around the island

Ascension Day, 14 May 2026

Once again this year: a 38-kilometre walk around the island. Who’s coming along? We’re continuing an old island tradition and exploring a piece of Föhr’s history together.

Last year there were over 100 people!

Spending time together, hiking around the island – or even just part of it – celebrating Father’s Day in a different way, chatting with locals, experiencing the island’s nature to the full, or having a natter with other holidaymakers on a long walk – whether as a family, with friends or colleagues. It’s all about taking part: everyone at their own pace! For the second time, ‘rundFöhr’ is waiving entry fees. Instead, the organisers and partners would be delighted to receive donations in aid of the German Depression Aid Foundation – supported by Föhr enthusiast and patron Harald Schmidt.

With the Museum Kunst der Westküste app (MKdW on tour), you can discover artworks digitally along the way! At checkpoints along the route, we’ll be well looked after with drinks and tasty treats from Föhr-based supporters. At the end of “rundFöhr”, there’ll be a cold drink and a bratwurst on the bi-a-wik terrace of the Upstalsboom Hotel. At the end, every participant will receive a certificate for the kilometres covered.

Starting point: stattbar, Westerstraße 1a, 25938 Wyk auf Föhr
Start time: 7 am, bring water, provisions & good footwear
Finish: Upstalsboom Wyk auf Föhr (approx. 3 pm)

No registration or entry fee required! We ask for a donation to the “Stiftung Deutsche Depressionshilfe” (German
Depression Aid Foundation). Donation account: IBAN: DE37 3702 0500 0003 4742 00, BIC: BFSWDE33XXX, reference “rundföhr”

All in the spirit of mutual solidarity, enjoyment and a shared commitment to a good cause: “rundFöhr” combines the tradition of walking together on Father’s Day with a commitment to mental health. After all, mindful walking in nature promotes not only physical but also mental well-being – a central concern of the “German Depression Aid Foundation”. The German Depression Aid Foundation has been working since 2008 to improve the situation of people suffering from depression. As patron, Harald Schmidt supports the foundation in its aim to improve the situation of those suffering from depression. Through events such as the Depression Patient Congress and the podcast “Raus aus der Depression” (Out of Depression), he helps to break the taboo surrounding the topic of depression.
