That was this year's Südstrand OpenAir, the most personal open-air music event on Föhr. This year with a great line-up: Max Giesinger, Michale Schulte and Vanessa Mai. No longer an insider tip, this is a great opportunity for many hotel guests, holidaymakers and islanders to experience famous music stars, national chart-toppers and exceptional live artists up close. Rousing beats, up-and-coming musical talents and soulful singer-songwriter ballads...
"With a handful of happiness", the open-air stage was opened on Wednesday evening, 24 July in bright sunshine on the hotel grounds of Upstalsboom Wyk on Föhr! The plan was actually different: Franziska Kleinert was originally supposed to play before the main act on the first evening, but cancelled due to illness. For this reason, Fidi Steinbeck from Hamburg spontaneously made her way to us on Föhr at very short notice with her cello in her luggage and, as Max Giesinger's support act, got all the concert guests in the right mood.
Finally, the big moment for all Giesinger fans had arrived: Max entered the Südstrand OpenAir stage together with his guitarist Steffen Graef and thrilled his audience with hit after hit. Hundreds of concert-goers celebrated summer and life on the event area in front of the hotel. How fitting: with the song "More to this Life", Giesinger then surprised the audience on stage as a powerful-voiced duo together with his good and well-known musician friend Michael Schulte. A great preview of the equally sold-out concert evening on Thursday 25 July with Michael Schulte as the main act.
"My Beautiful Reason" - what a great reason for singer-songwriter Michael Schulte to come to Föhr once again! Here at the Südstrand OpenAir on the 2nd day of the festival, Schulte once again gave all his fans a fantastic show. As he did three years ago, this year he and his family "brought holiday and job together" here at the hotel, as he said between songs. Right from the start, the audience sang along to the lyrics and danced - the atmosphere was infectious and turned into a storm of enthusiasm when - who would have thought it - Max Giesinger suddenly joined them on stage, the two music buddies performed two songs together and the audience celebrated them for it!
By the way: German pop act and newcomer Tim Baldus opened the concert as support with songs such as "Bordsteinkante", inviting all Schulte fans to sing along right at the start of the evening!
The third concert evening on our OpenAir stage is opened by support act and thoroughbred musician Steffen Jung with a powerful and very likeable voice. After the very first song, he invites the concertgoers already present to the front rows to perform like a big name... He also makes contact with the crowd and gets everyone excited about his songs.
A little later, Vanessa Mai sings " ...und der Himmel reißt auf!" together with front singer & band on our Südstrand OpenAir stage, when the last rain showers of the island summer on Föhr had finally cleared for the concert evening. In a really good mood, with a strong stage presence and a lot of talking to her fans in the almost sold-out concert audience, she skilfully heated up the atmosphere on the festival stage, helped by a (shared) Föhr Manhattan! After a full 90 minutes, still with power, she bids farewell into the night with one of her best-known songs "Ich sterb für dich".
Thank you, Vanessa, it was a feast for us!
The weather played along every day, so we were able to make over 3500 concert guests happy: Thank you all for being there and celebrating, dancing and singing! That means everything to us! We reminisce about the 4 days with Max Giesinger (supp. Fidi Steinbeck), Michael Schulte (supp. Tim Baldus), Vanessa Mai (supp. Steffen Jung) in the ticket shows. The children's rock band Randale, POHLMANN and DJ Lidsba with saxophonist Lars Joachim on the free Saturday made for a brilliant finale!
A huge thank you to our partners Carl Buch Elektrotechnik GmbH, Steuerberatung Stoffel Siedler Schuchmann, Weber Immobilien and Autohaus Elmshorn, as well as to all other supporters of Südstrand OpenAir 2024. An event of this size and quality here on Föhr requires strong partnerships and always a dedicated team in front of and behind the scenes.
