As our guests at Hotel Upstalsboom Wyk on Föhr, you will enjoy your stay in an unspoilt beach location in the middle of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. Since 2009, the Wadden Sea has been officially protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site - and for good reason: the Wadden Sea is unique and diverse worldwide. More than 10,000 animal and plant species live in this unique habitat. Of these, 250 alone are found only in the Wadden Sea and nowhere else in the world. Sea scorpions and lugworms can be marvelled at here, as can mussels and shore crabs.
The island's nature is therefore very close to our hearts, and together with the islanders and our guests, we feel responsible: because social, economic and ecological sustainability is not just an option, but an economic necessity for a future worth living. As a FÖHRgreen partner since 2021, we have been committed to a comprehensive catalogue of principles for sustainability in gastronomy on the island with our 2 restaurants and our hotel bar for some time now. A summarised sustainability report for 2024 is currently being prepared. The resource-saving measures shown here are a small selection of examples.
The "Medicleantec Micro Cleaner" has been revolutionising our housekeeping since April 2023. The devices clean with dry water vapour heated to 179 degrees, reducing bacteria, viruses and germs by 99%. This means we no longer need to use any chemicals for cleaning and therefore no plastic containers with cleaning agents. Perfect for our guests, healthy for our housekeeping team and gentle on our furniture and surfaces.
Travelling naturally: The short distances across our island are particularly inviting for long walks and long bike rides. If you book a parking space in our underground car park, you can currently "recharge" your e-bikes or e-cars free of charge while you recharge your batteries in the SPA or in your room after an eventful day on holiday. A total of 10 e-charging stations are available to you, spread over 2 underground car parks. And if you have parked your car on the mainland or have travelled by train to save the climate, you can even reserve a new VW ID3 directly with us for half a day or a whole day.

Not only has La Biosthétique been pursuing a sustainable approach to people, the environment and climate protection since the 1980s, but with such a co-operation partner it is also possible to make a contribution to the climate path in the future. Every bottle of the SPA fragrance range is refilled by our team with the utmost care, so less waste actively protects the environment.
